Settling in...

Time is flying by so fast these days! Being back in school is something we are still getting used to, but I am glad to be in it. It is hard getting used to having Marlee stay with an at home daycare provider most of the week. We do get to spend all day Friday together! This last Friday I don't think we moved off of the couch much at all. It just felt like one of those lazy days, you know? I feel like my mind is always divulged in some form of problem solving (school)...so, I just turn it off on the weekends. So needless to say I have been kind of spacey this weekend.
Tonight is Marlee's first night sleeping in her own bed again. She had been taking naps in her own room during the day, but now she isn't home at nap time anymore. She cried and cried, and I just couldn't bear it anymore. It just breaks my heart so I went in and laid with her until she fell asleep. She may not last all night in her bed, but I am okay with that. Baby steps... She is growing up so fast! We got rid of her pacifier two weeks ago! Yay for us!! She still asks for it every now and then, but it is more of a question and not a demand from her. She will tilt her head to the side and and ever so sweetly say, "paci???" We just tell her it went bye bye and so far she seems satisfied with that. She also has been doing fantastic with her potty training. I have to admit that having her be in pull ups most of the day at her daycare (don't ask!) is thwarting all the progress we have made. I am pretty perturbed by this....gotta think of something to do. When she is home she is in panties only, but now she spends 4 out of 7 days away from home. Oh well...She still loves playing dress up and still usually has on a tutu or princess dress. She also has a new fascination with Polly Pocket. It was neat at first. Anything to distract her from Barbie, right? But, since we have gotten rid of the pacifier I have noticed she puts more things in her mouth. Some of the accessories that come with the Polly Pockets are really small and it makes me nervous! She still loves cheese, grapes, apples, and fruit snacks. Her old "go to" snack of yogurt is no more one of her favorites. She was in a cereal phase, and that comes and goes. So many things stay the same, but so many things seem to change at the same time. She is also such a polite little girl. I think I have mentioned it before, but someone else said that the other day too, so it just made me proud. When she is going passed someone or someone is in her way she says, "cuse me". She says that also when she burps or toots! She is so funny! When we sneeze, she makes sure to say "bess you" and she still says her please and thank you's most of the time. It is just pretty cool to hear because these are things we just do or say out of habit or regularly and to see her latch on to those good habits is really nice. She still throws her temper tantrums and has to sit in time out every once in a while, but her cries have gotten to be pretty fake these days. She is limit testing at times, but that too comes and goes. We have more positive days than time outs by far! We are expecting visitors over the next few months and I can't wait for them to see how much she has grown and progressed since they last saw her!
Zachary is still getting adjusted to work and I think is ready to retire! Since our schedules are so different these days we needed another vehicle. Since he drives the farthest and the gas prices are doing nothing but going up we got.......a.....drum roll please......a PRIUS! That's right folks, a Prius! It gets 49 to 50 mpg and only costs $20 to fill up! I never thought I would own one, but I have to admit that I love it! It is really cool! It is extremely quiet when in electric mode and has good size room in it. It also has navigation and blue-tooth phone! So when I call you all now, it can come through the speakers! Zach drives it to work and he puts about 250 miles on it each week just going to work! That doesn't include when we drive it all over the place on the weekends! I have to say it was a smart choice! I drive the Journey back and forth from school and that is only maybe 2miles from our house. I have been on half a tank for two weeks it seems like! We are still slowly but surely getting the house together. We still have some things that need a place to hang out, but we bought our final ceiling fan this weekend! yay! We now have light in our bedroom! I have gotten used to having to use the bathroom light to light up the bedroom that I keep forgetting to turn the bedroom light on. We have a lot going on this next week...and let's hope that installing our garage door opener is one of them. It is getting old opening and closing that thing! I will try to do my best at updating this thing as we have new happenings more often these days. I hope everyone is well and see you next time!

Live from...Our NEW Home!!

Yeah,I know...the title is lame. Trying to find time to blog is hard enough, let alone come up with some catchy title. So much has happened since the last time I posted, as usual. We spent Christmas in TLF (base hotel)and were there for almost a month. Marlee had a great Christmas! It was so cool watching her open her presents this year. She had so many things, she didn't know what she wanted to play with more. It has been raining a lot here as well. They have had record rainfall this year and there has been a lot of flooding in the surrounding area. It was nice to be able to move off base recently and into our NEW HOME!! Within the first 48 hours of arriving here at Beale we found the house that was soon to be called the Herringz Domain. It took four weeks or so for the process to be complete, but after a million of dropped phone calls, faxes, and weeks of waiting, we have officially become homeowners! It was very surreal in the beginning, but now it just feels natural. I am impatient, however, about getting the house to where I want it to be. I have never been the patient type, so I have time now for a lot of practice :). Marlee has enjoyed running around the house and also enjoyed having her toys and room back. If only she felt the same about her bed... That is a work in progress. One thing at a time, right? Zach is slowly but surely getting back into the flow of working, and Marlee and I are re-establishing our routines. Things are good! I am trying not to feel that something crazy is going to happen since things are falling into place. We did have some things damaged in our household goods delivery that we aren't thrilled at all about, but we kind of expected it after seeing the way the movers handled our belongings. One box of DVD's didn't even make it to California. The moving company said the driver didn't have it in his inventory. boooo.... Oh well, we are getting all that taken care of at the moment, so here's to hoping things work in our favor (fingers crossed). We miss our family and friends and wish we could share these new experiences with everyone! I hope things are swell for everyone and I will try to be better about updating this thing.
